This Isn’t Perfect… But It’s Me
When I first started tattooing, I kept asking myself, what’s my style? Like there was some unspoken rule that I had to choose between traditional, fine line, realism, whatever… and then never look back.
But nothing really felt like me. I’d try different things, and they’d turn out fine, but only rarely did I feel that spark. You know the one — the holy crap, I want to do this forever kind of feeling.
And then I came across Fernando Garroux’s work. Total game changer.
His paintings are messy and tidy at the same time, in the coolest way. BOLD lines, paint smears, color outside the lines — it’s like street art with emotion. Raw and full of personality. It was the first time I saw a style and actually felt a connection.
Something clicked.
I started experimenting with bolder lines, uneven strokes, and texture — basically everything you’re not supposed to do when you’re learning. And you know what? It felt right. It felt like maybe… just maybe… I could shape this into something that felt like “mine.”
I started practicing digitally and on paper, trying to figure out how to bring that sketchy, chaotic look into real tattoos. I’m still learning. Still figuring it out. Still looking for brave, willing clients. But for the first time, I feel like I’m creating in a way that actually makes me excited.
It’s not perfect — but it’s expressive. And it gives me space to be a little weird, a little rough around the edges. Which honestly? Kinda sums me up anyway.
I don’t have a signature “style” yet. But I know I’m getting closer. And whatever it turns into… it’s probably gonna include bold colors, wild lines, and at least a few sneaky little skulls hidden in the design
